The latest from popular developer Bethesda (Fallout 3, The Elder Scrolls series) has finally arrived, but will this new venture for the veteran company pay off as well as their previous titles?

First Impressions: Whenever possible, we try to give our loyal website viewers the most video footage and most in depth unbiased reviews imaginable. Part of that development is our "initial impressions" where we offer up our first impressions of the title that we are playing.

This gives our website visitors more of clear understanding of what to first expect out of the game when they initially pop it into their consoles.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page in the Rent vs. Buy section of the review and do not see the "final impressions" assessment then it's safe to say that you are reading our initial impression of the game. Once the final impression is up, there will be no further video or review done to that particular title.

Final Impressions: The final impression is just that, our completed breakdown and overall thoughts on the game based off of our entire game playing time.

Here you will be able to read our final thoughts on the title and also see any potential grade changes that were made to the game as well (higher or lower). Should a grading change occur, it will be clearly noted with the previous grade, the new grade, and why the change occurred.

Although this approach is more time consuming and requires many more man hours, our entire goal has always been to provide the best and completely unbiased reviews possible and we feel that the inclusion of the Initial Impressions and Final Impressions sections will give you a better view of what to expect from a new game.

Killer Cast: One of the most essential aspects of WET's storyline is its characters and how they fit into the world. WET features a wide variety of characters with very distinct personalities ranging from mob bosses, Hong Kong restaurant owners and many others.

The star of the show is Rubi Malone, a gun-for-hire who is one of the most revered names in the underground mercenary business. WET's storyline begins when Rubi is asked by a crime lord to retrieve his son from "undesirables" and bring him back into the family fold.

However, this simple retrieval order is much more complicated then it seems and will cause her more trouble then she anticipated.

The plot in WET is not half bad, but it is easy to see that WET does not focus on the story nearly as much as it does on the actual gameplay. Of course, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Body count in the millions: WET has a massive focus on how the game looks while you are racking up the body count and it heavily rewards you for killing with style while you are playing.

You can perform an assortment of acrobatic maneuvers from running off walls, sliding on the ground and jumping into the air, all while pumping your enemies with massive doses of lead. WET relies on everything you do looking great and being filled with style, and it pays off well, as there are very few shooters that look as amazing as WET does mid-combat.

The combat is very enjoyable to watch and engage in...for a while. Unfortunately, after about an hour or so you can feel like the game is giving you the same moves to use over and over. Even after buying some more acrobatic killing maneuvers at the end of each chapter, you basically only have your jumping, sliding and running while laying waste.

While it is always fun to jump off a car, kill two enemies at the same time and then upon reaching the ground slide another six feet, killing more along the way, it does lose some of its luster in a surprisingly short amount of time.

Adding to that, your opposition is basically bullet sponges that just sit and wait for you to kill them. I suppose if they made them easy to kill as you will often be facing dozens of enemies at a time, but it wouldn't hurt to have them do a little more then just stand there and miss you with nearly everything they fire at you.

Old School Action Movie: The visual design showcased in WET is very impressive and the entire game is displayed to you in a seventies-like style. In addition to that, the game has the look of an old film not unlike one that would be shown at a drive-through movie. It is also reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse movie.

As for the audio, the seventies theme continues there with a brilliant seventies-inspired soundtrack that fits perfectly into the game. The music changes depending on where you are and what you are doing, and it quickly helps you become very immersed into the game.

Rent vs. Buy: WET is a very solid game and it succeeds at what it is trying to do. WET is nothing more then a visceral, non-stop, balls-to-the-wall action game that is continuously throwing more bullets and more enemies at you throughout the entire game.

It tries to be nothing more then that, and for that reason the game is getting a pretty decent score. It cannot be questioned that WET is very enjoyable for quite a while once you pick up the controls, but for some reason it just does not keep the same thrills hours after you first play the game.

Nevertheless, the amazing graphics, great stylized visuals, brilliant soundtrack and awe inspiring maneuvers make for a great title that is the perfect "rent" title. I would not suggest buying it at full retail price, but for the fee of a rental this game couldn't be more perfect.
