SoulCalibur IV!

The popular and well-known series has finally released its latest sequel, but will number IV be able to revitalize the increasingly more tired franchise?

First Impressions: Whenever possible, we try to give our loyal website viewers the most video footage and most in depth unbiased reviews imaginable. Part of that development is our "initial impressions" where we offer up our first impressions of the title that we are playing.

This gives our website visitors more of clear understanding of what to first expect out of the game when they initially pop it into their consoles.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page in the Rent vs. Buy section of the review and do not see the "final impressions" assessment then it's safe to say that you are reading our initial impression of the game. Once the final impression is up, there will be no further video or review done to that particular title.

Final Impressions: The final impression is just that, our completed breakdown and overall thoughts on the game based off of our entire game playing time.

You can locate the final impressions assessment in the "Rent vs. Buy" section of the review (always located at the very end of all of our reviews). Here you will be able to read our final thoughts on the title and also see any potential grade changes that were made to the game as well (higher or lower). Should a grading change occur, it will be clearly noted with the previous grade, the new grade, and why the change occurred.

Although this approach is more time consuming and requires many more man hours, our entire goal has always been to provide the best and completely unbiased reviews possible and we feel that the inclusion of the Initial Impressions and Final Impressions sections will give you a better view of what to expect from a new game.

All that we ask in return is for you to continue to support Krakrabbit.com by visiting the site and letting others know about our cause. Together we can supply our fellow gamers with the most impartial information so they can make an informed decision on whether to buy or rent this particular title.

A Thousand Tales: Soulcalibur IV's story again revolves around the all-powerful and corrupting sword that has been featured in every Soulcalibur since the original back in the day.

The actual story mode of Soulcalibur IV is very short, and there is no reason the story mode should only last a meager five-rounds.

Although the story mode itself is amazingly short, the replay value of the game is still shocking due to the different outcomes and storyline progression of the many characters featured in the game.

The Arcade mode of the game is a little longer, but still feels like it should've gone on a little bit farther.

The main draw-in for Single Player fans is the Tower of Lost Souls, which allows you to battle through hundreds of levels, collecting loot and gear and such.

The Tower of Lost Souls is a great addition to the game and really adds infinite replay value because it takes a massive amount of dedication and time to conquer the Tower.

May The Force Be With You: Soulcalibur also includes two console exclusive Star Wars characters and Vader's Apprentice in both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.

The Playstation 3 features Darth Vader in its version, and he is a very disappointing character to play as and against.

While Darth Vader does have some Force moves that he can utilize, he moves just as slow as he does in the movies, but doesn't have much power to offset the speed disadvantage with, making him an overall unimpressive fighter.

On the other hand, the Xbox 360 specific character, Yoda, has an unfair advantage over all of his opponents and tends to be just a little cheap to play as and against.

Because of the size difference, any opponent Yoda faces will only be able to land low shots, because the normal height attacks fly over Yoda's little head.

The Apprentice from the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Unleashed game is the worst to fight against of them all.

The Apprentice has shockingly powerful moves, and his attacks are way to fast and furious to deal with the majority of the time. While The Apprentice is a blast to play as, he is extremely frustrating to play against.

F-f-f-f-ight: One of the main draw-ins of Soulcalibur IV is the exceptional multiplayer mode that is featured in the game.

You will be able to fight against other people from around the world in a single match, using the large cast of colorful and distinctly different characters.

The online experience of Soulcalibur IV is amazing, and while the game can occasionally stutter a bit during gameplay, it usually is not much to get frustrated about.

Rent vs. Buy: Soulcalibur IV is an amazing experience that does not fail in any department, but also does not really innovate on much either.

Soulcalibur IV has amazingly well done graphics, great sound effects, impressive multiplayer and a lot of replay value.

If you are a fan of the type of game that Soulcalibur is, then you will undoubtedly need to buy the game, if however, if you are not a fan of the series or the gameplay it features, Soulcalibur IV will not convert you.
