The latest highly anticipated game from Ubisoft and the debut of upcoming developer Jade Raymond has finally arrived, but will it live up to the high expectations of gamers?

A Game Shrouded in Secrecy: The story of Assassin's Creed places you in the shoes of Altair ibn La-Ahad , a ruthless assassin that is tasked with bringing the Holy Land to peace and restoring his rank in Assassin Brotherhood. While I won't spoil any of the heart stopping twists, and shocking moments, I can say that the story has a future-time based storyline, is very satisfying and will make you want to discover more of the world.

Another great part about Assassin's Creed is the ability to travel through four different cities. You can choose to explore Jerusalem, Acre, Damascus or Masyaf in complete freedom. Allowing you to explore the massive landscape is a great feature, and sets the bar for next-gen exploration.

Your Actions Can Throw Your Immediate Environment Into Chaos: The greatest part of Assassin's Creed is the innovation and AI. The environment is quite interactive, and the AI is highly intuitive. The amount of options that Assassin's Creed gives you is absolutely astounding. From the beginning of the game, you have the ability to shape the world around you. Everything you do will accurately affect the world around you, and depending on the type of actions you perform, the guards and general public will react accordingly.

As well as the AI reacting to your combat actions, they will also react to you behavior if they catch you jumping around the city rooftops. That's right, rooftops. In Assassin's Creed, you have the ability to climb up almost any surface using your cat-like agility to explore, and escape the guards. This never before seen aspect is highly enjoyable, and you will often spend hours just running above the common citizens' heads.

As I previously mentioned, the type of actions matter just as much as when you perform them. There are two levels of the severity of your actions, and you can choose which level you would like to use in curtain situations such as the choice of whether you would like to kill your target under the radar, or if you want to lunge onto him and jam a hidden blade into his throat.

The Tools of The Assassin: One of the most interesting parts of Assassin's Creed are the weapons. While there isn't much to choose from (a sword, dagger, knives, and a hidden blade,) you won't desire more selection because the standard loadout is so enjoyable to use. The combat system is very defined, and has a slight learning curb, but once you get used to it it's very easy to use. The combat system in Assassin's Creed is unlike your standard run around and slice people, and requires you to manage your opponents and time your strikes with precision.

Rent vs. Buy: Assassin's Creed has almost no flaws. The game could have been a bit more interactive by letting you access any building, but the rest of the game is nearly perfect. The AI is tremendously smart, and Ubisoft has the combat down to a key. Couple that with stunning graphics, and you have a top notch game. If you like games at all, this is a must buy. Ubisoft and Jade Raymond knocked it out of the park on this one, and I would keep an eye on her in the coming years.
