Test Drive: Unlimited!

The well-known Test Drive franchise has released its latest Test Drive game, but will Unlimited live up to the standard the console versions set?

First Impressions: Whenever possible, we try to give our loyal website viewers the most video footage and most in depth unbiased reviews imaginable. Part of that development is our "initial impressions" where we offer up our first impressions of the title that we are playing.

This gives our website visitors more of clear understanding of what to first expect out of the game when they initially pop it into their consoles.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page in the Rent vs. Buy section of the review and do not see the "final impressions" assessment then it's safe to say that you are reading our initial impression of the game. Once the final impression is up, there will be no further video or review done to that particular title.

Final Impressions: The final impression is just that, our completed breakdown and overall thoughts on the game based off of our entire game playing time.

You can locate the final impressions assessment in the "Rent vs. Buy" section of the review (always located at the very end of all of our reviews). Here you will be able to read our final thoughts on the title and also see any potential grade changes that were made to the game as well (higher or lower). Should a grading change occur, it will be clearly noted with the previous grade, the new grade, and why the change occurred.

Although this approach is more time consuming and requires many more man hours, our entire goal has always been to provide the best and completely unbiased reviews possible and we feel that the inclusion of the Initial Impressions and Final Impressions sections will give you a better view of what to expect from a new game.

All that we ask in return is for you to continue to support Krakrabbit.com by visiting the site and letting others know about our cause. Together we can supply our fellow gamers with the most impartial information so they can make an informed decision on whether to buy or rent this particular title.

Hawaiian Paradise: Test Drive: Unlimited's storyline is non-existent, and simply features you going to Hawaii to buy a car and a house (you get to buy several homes throughout the game) and do some random races. Other then that, there is no story.

As I mentioned, you have the ability to go to different real-world car and bike dealerships around the island and buy anything from Volkswagens and Chevy's, to Aston Martins, and in the bike section, pretty much anything you can think of.

This aspect adds an awesome sense of realism to the game and you always feel like there is something to do on Oahu.

Unlimited's main draw-in is the ability to drive through an entirely open world while on the island of Oahu.

Since there is no story, Unlimited doesn't have any story based objectives and just has random races all throughout the island.

These random objectives can be only standard races, time trials, but there are also speed challenge races which task you with speeding past a number of speed traps or simply getting to your objective in a set amount of time.

While Test Drive: Unlimited fails to have much of anything original in terms of racing, the tropical island is still a blast to drive around, and you never feel like you need something to do to have fun.

The Race Capital: In Test Drive: Unlimited, you have the ability to play online over Xbox Live, racing against other Test Drivers.

The greatest aspect of the online functionality of Test Drive: Unlimited is the fact that you never have to go into any menus or do much of anything separate to play online. All you have to do is log onto the servers when you pop the game in and you are ready for multiplayer racing at any time.

When you are ready to race in multiplayer, all you have to do is find a multiplayer race symbol at some point on the island, and then go there where other racers are waiting for you.

Another option that you can choose is to drive around the island as you please...with others online.

Yep, you can drive around the island like you are in single player, but there are other online drivers around the island too, although there seems to be some kind of limit as to how many drivers can be driving online in the same area at one time.

If you happen to find one of those other cruisers, you can simply flash your headlights at them, challenging them to a race for money or ranking, and they can accept of decline.

Rent vs. Buy: Test Drive: Unlimited is an incredible game that must be played, because the game can only be described so well.

The amazing graphics, incredible open-world freedom, surprisingly tight controls, and unrivaled multiplayer make Test Drive: Unlimited one of the best racing games on the Xbox 360 thus far.

If you like cars, racing, or just tight multiplayer action, there is no way you can miss out on the beauty that Test Drive: Unlimited is.
